This residency by Drugo more and OAZA will see artist Robertina Šebjanič address the environmental impact of discarded weapons on oceans' seabeds. By focusing on Rijeka, within the Kvarner region in the Northern Adriatic Sea, the collaboration with local craftspeople, scientists, and civil society will result in showcasing research outcomes at a global scale.
Wicker basket weaver Abílio Pereira and designer Toni Grilo collaborated in this residency by Passa Ao Futuro to create a small collection of wicker furniture right at the heart of the artisan’s workshop.
Inspired by the traditional elliptical or round shapes used in palm basketry, the collection resulting in the Passa Ao Futuro residency organised between designer Joana Astolfi and craftswomen Sónia Mendez & Susana Mendez is based on the simple gesture of folding them in half, creating a space for carrying or storing objects.
